We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to build, maintain, and improve the data infrastructure and reporting solutions supporting Finance and Accounting. This is a hands-on role focused on SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, financial data, and reporting, with additional work across Power BI, Power Platform, Python, and Microsoft Fabric.
The ideal candidate is a strong data engineer who can troubleshoot and optimize existing production processes, build new solutions, and work directly with business stakeholders to turn financial and operational requirements into reliable, actionable data.
Design, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance ETL pipelines using SSIS and SQL Server, including existing production processes.
Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and data structures, including performance tuning, indexing, and execution plan analysis.
Build and maintain SSRS reports, including parameterized reports, drilldowns, scheduled subscriptions, and data-driven subscriptions.
Develop Power BI dashboards and semantic models and support the organization’s transition toward Microsoft Fabric.
Integrate data from multiple sources, including Excel/flat files, APIs, cloud applications, Azure SQL, and on-premises SQL Server.
Build Power Apps and Power Automate solutions to automate manual Finance and Accounting workflows.
Write Python scripts to automate recurring data, reporting, and internal processes.
Partner directly with Finance and Accounting stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
Improve data quality, accuracy, reliability, governance, and overall usability of financial information.
Mentor junior team members, participate in code reviews, and contribute to technical standards and documentation.
8+ years of experience in data engineering, ETL, data integration/migration, and SQL.
Advanced hands-on experience with SQL Server and SSIS.
Strong experience developing and supporting SSRS reporting solutions.
3+ years of data warehouse experience.
3+ years of Power BI development and administration experience.
3+ years working with financial/accounting data, including developing executive reporting and KPIs.
Strong SQL performance tuning experience, including stored procedures, execution plans, and indexing.
Hands-on experience using Python for scripting and process automation.
Experience integrating data from multiple systems and formats.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot production data and reporting issues.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with non-technical business stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
