We are looking for a Sr Software Development Engineer in Test (Senior SDET)

This role will help drive our automation efforts by designing and building automated test coverage across all products with the main focus being on Ethos. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in AI and have proven experience leveraging AI/ML tools to make testing faster, smarter, and more resilient. The Senior SDET will partner with the Director of Engineering Operations to help set the technical direction for the automation team, remain hands-on in delivery, and introduce AI-assisted approaches into day-to-day test engineering.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with growing the automation engineering teams knowledge, setting their technical direction, and priorities.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites (API, UI, performance, and load) as part of the development lifecycle.
• Write and maintain test automation frameworks in collaboration with development teams, not just QA.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and drive fast, reliable feedback loops for engineers.
• Apply AI-assisted tools to our testing process, such as LLM-based test case generation, self-healing UI locators, and AI code review/test suggestions.
• Review the team’s work, analyze coverage gaps, and set standards for where automation or AI tooling should be applied.
• Represent the team in conversations with development and product leadership on test coverage, testability, release readiness, and quality risk.
• Mentor team members on automation best practices and AI tooling adoption.

Requirements:

• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Able to manage competing priorities effectively.
• A bachelors degree from a four-year university.

Required Skills:

• 5 years of experience as an SDET, QA engineer, or software engineer focused on test automation.
• Hands-on experience with automation frameworks (Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar) and API testing tools (Postman, RestAssured, or similar).
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar).
• Experience applying AI/ML tools to testing workflows such as LLM-based test generation, AI coding assistants (Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor), or intelligent test maintenance tools.
